A man has been arrested in connection with the death of a Georgia teacher who was found dead on holiday in Mexico.

Alexandra Morales, who was in the country to visit her family and attend a concert, was found dead in a car in the state of Jalisco on Tuesday, Mexican officials said on Thursday.

A man has been arrested in connection with the death of a 24-year-old woman, the Jalisco state prosecutor's office said. Mexican officials did not provide further details about the suspect or the possible cause of death.

Morales' uncle Ostín Cuenca told Telemundo Atlanta that the man arrested was his nephew's boyfriend. Cuenca called Morales an "angel" and called on American authorities to ensure that his death was fully investigated.

His family said they last heard about Morales in Oct. 30, reports NBC-affiliated company WXIA Atlanta, and Mexican officials said they found it reported he was missing on 5 Nov.
