The Green New Deal advocated by a rising star in the progressive movement is getting a lot of attention. Is this the right kind?

A recent attack at New York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez targeted her driving habits in contrast to her statements about the environment and the way the country should be acting to preserve it.

According to a series of criticisms that came out recently, Ocasio-Cortez was a bit hypocritical in her stance, given the fact that she herself was an active car user and took her vehicle everywhere, rather than relying on public transportation.

Ocasio-Cortez has responded to the accusations claiming that she is “just living in the world.”

She added: "I also fly and use AC. Living in the world as it is isn’t an argument against working towards a better future."

She explained that living in the world in its current state should not be used as an argument against someone trying to build a better future for everyone.

The politician still stands behind her views on the environment and the reform necessary to improve the country's future.

She insisted that the nation as a whole has a responsibility to overhaul its transportation system and focus more on manufacturing electric vehicles and providing electric charging stations all over the road network.

In addition, public transportation should be a primary focus of current reformative actions, according to Ocasio-Cortez.

Some have expressed their support for the politician, claiming that she is not violating her own stance by admitting to using her car on a regular basis.

She stated: "The Green New Deal is about putting a LOT of people to work in developing new technologies, building new infrastructure, and getting us to 100% renewable energy."

In fact, it looks like Ocasio-Cortez has been enjoying growing support from multiple sides recently.

The politician has managed to impress many with her determined attitude and her stance on various sensitive topics.

Hopefully, she is going to maintain that approach in the near future and will not be driven off.
