New York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is a real star in the progressive movement. Her views on climate change were summarized in the Green New Deal, a piece of legislation that was mocked and attacked by Republicans everywhere including President Donald Trump.
Despite all of the controversies, Ocasio-Cortez is not showing any signs of slowing down. When she is not blasting Amazon, she is defending controversial Minnesota Congresswoman Ilhan Omar against racist attacks or giving kudos to presidential hopefuls like Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren.
All of this attention makes her the perfect target for impersonations. A pint-sized AOC impersonator has the Internet, well, mostly in conservative circles; because 8-year-old Ava Martinez goes very hard while mocking the liberal firebrand.
Martinez said in the viral clip: "Like, I want to talk about, like, climate change. Because, like, there’s no doubt cow farts are making the climate change. Like, in July, the climate was 96 degrees, and in February the climate was 36 degrees. OMG, like that’s a huge change in the climate in only. At this rate, the world is going to end in exactly 12 years."
Martinez's stepdad, Salvatore Schachter, who first shared the video, did not expect it to reach so many people in such a short time. Nonetheless, he is very proud of what they have accomplished together.
He explained: "I thought it would gain attention because she’s adorable, but not like this. She loves acting. She’s just a natural performer."
In the clip, she also said this: "I also want to talk about socialism because socialism is so amazing. Like, socialism is actually short for social media. I do social media, so I’m a socialist."
While the little girl is very funny and some on Fox News say she could make Saturday Night Live funny again, others say that she might be too young to be pushing "partisan" attacks like these.
Critics say it is always best to leave children to grow and form their own opinion instead of using them to push narratives that they barely understand.
AOC, who is very active on social media, has opted not to react to Martinez's impersonation.
Should parents push their political beliefs on their kids, yes or no?
