After much speculation about the financial situation of US President Donald Trump, the public never got to see the fine details of his accounts in the end, despite many requests towards him.

Moreover, while many have moved on and have largely forgotten the story at this point, it does not look like that is valid for everyone.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, in particular, appears strongly determined to get to the bottom of things for good and has continued to put pressure on Mr. Trump to release his financial records like his taxes.

She even tried to mock Trump for the way he delivered his speeches, posting a tweet with the words “Taxes, taxes, taxes!” recently.

The New York congresswoman added: "We have sworn Congressional testimony that you artificially deflated your assets to skirt paying the taxes that fund schools & more (a crime), & inflated your assets for insurance (also a crime),” she said."

However, it does not look like she has managed to impact Trump’s situation too much, as the president has not responded to the new tweet in any way.

The president opted to focus on Russia instead. He wrote on Twitter: "Russia, Russia, Russia! That’s all you heard at the beginning of this Witch Hunt Hoax…And now Russia has disappeared because I had nothing to do with Russia helping me to get elected,” Trump wrote in one of several tweets on the topic. “It was a crime that didn’t exist."

Some have pointed out that it will likely take more than this to properly persuade Trump into coming clean with the way his finances work, while others have been skeptical about the president’s reasons for the whole secrecy.

Many suspect that Trump might indeed have something embarrassing in his tax returns, but at the same time, it is not clear why his team has not approached the president if that were the case to find a proper way to handle the controversy.

He is not exempt from paying taxes or being investigated for inconsistencies, but so far has not had to face any charges as a result of his alleged problematic tax returns.

Trump himself has maintained that there is nothing to see in those returns in the first place.

Do you think AOC has a point, yes or no?
