2020 is shaping to be a significant year that will answer a lot of political questions. The country and the two major political parties might not be the same after that.
It looks like not all is quiet on the Democratic front, and in fact, the party might be going through some significant internal struggles at the moment.
The name of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has popped up in the media more than a few times in recent weeks, and it looks like that might not be by chance.
Reports indicate that she is in fact right in the middle of the current internal conflicts of the Democratic Party.
She recently added even more to that situation by claiming that she would make a list of Democratic moderates who have voted with Republicans, and she would personally drive them out of office in the upcoming primaries.
This was reportedly said in a private meeting involving several prominent members of the party.
Ocasio-Cortez appears to have a firm grip over her situation at the moment, and she has been working hard to establish even more control over the people she believes need it the most.
Some have taken the opportunity to further their criticism towards Ocasio-Cortez.
The politician has come under fire recently for some of her comments, and it looks like the recent incident might have added fuel to that fire.
The main complaint on the table seems to concern the lack of experience that Ocasio-Cortez has allegedly demonstrated in some areas.
A critic of the New York congresswoman stated: "I think that’s wrong and shows a lack of understanding for moderate-leaning districts. The belief is that some of the members on the more progressive side of the caucus don’t really understand what it’s like to represent a moderate district. Our districts don’t look like theirs, and if we’re going to keep the majority, we have to protect these moderate seats, and it would be in everyone’s best interest if we all worked together."
However, the politician has made it clear that she would not succumb to intimidation tactics.
She has defended her positions on multiple occasions and has reiterated her stance regarding some of the statements she had made.
