According to Andrew McCabe, his first conversation with President Donald Trump after taking the post of FBI director was less than pleasant, with Trump attempting to undermine his position and the reputation of his family subtly.

McCabe’s story alleges that Trump remarked that it “must be tough to be a loser,” referring to the fact that McCabe’s wife, Jill, had lost her state senate race.

McCabe tried to remain calm during the conversation, replying only that it is tough to lose anything in general, and noting that his wife was now pursuing a different approach to her career.

It seems like Trump’s comments were not taken lightly; however, as McCabe has recently described him with less than pleasant adjectives when recounting the situation.

He added that he felt personally insulted by the president, and gave a lot of praise to his wife, commending her for her achievements in life and her helpful stance towards the community.

McCabe added that he did not want to get into any arguments with the president, especially given his own current position, so he simply responded with an “OK” and hung up.

Trump has not offered any comments on his side of the story, though many would apparently see it as unsurprising if he himself confirmed the reports.

The president has made multiple controversial comments to people in various positions over the years, and this is not the first time his name has been involved in a scandal like this.

The Trump critic explained: "No man wants to hear anyone call his wife a loser, most of all me. My wife is a wonderful, brilliant, dedicated physician who tried to help her community. So she is no loser. It was just bullying. So rather than get into an argument with the president of the United States, we, I said, ‘OK, sir.’ And we hung up and ended the call."

Many have expressed disappointment over the apparent nature of relationships between people at the very top of the nation.

The Trump administration has a complicated relationship with current and former staffers, and a significant number of them has turned leaking anonymously to the media as a sport.
