According to U.S. President Donald Trump, certain people on the political scene and around the country have been acting somewhat hypocritically with regards to current immigration policies.

The president specifically referred to those refusing to take immigrants in their Sanctuary Cities while at the same time expecting others to accept them.

Trump added that immigrants should be expected to enter the country legally if that was going to be the situation going forward, although he did not touch on his policies during that speech.

The Republican politician tweeted: "If the Radical Left Democrats all of a sudden don’t want the Illegal Migrants in their Sanctuary Cities (no more open arms), why should others be expected to take them into their communities? Go home and come into our Country legally and through a system of Merit!"

He added: "Due to the fact that Democrats are unwilling to change our very dangerous immigration laws, we are indeed, as reported, giving strong considerations to placing Illegal Immigrants in Sanctuary Cities only. The Radical Left always seems to have an Open Borders, Open Arms policy — so this should make them very happy!"

He did, however, reveal specific plans allegedly in the works regarding immigration policies, such as the consideration to have a 20-day period for holding people.

Many have come forward to express their disagreement with Trump, claiming that what the president is doing ultimately boils down to exploiting the situation of underprivileged families to push forward his agenda.

This is not the first time Trump has been accused of using the immigrant situation to have his way, although the president does not seem to agree with these accusations, and maintains his point of view.

Some have even stated that a man expressing such views should have no place as a president, to begin with.

Trump has been facing some significant backlash from many areas in U.S. politics recently, and it would be interesting to see if the president will manage to maintain his popularity among his followers in the coming months.

The upcoming 2020 election is sure to be a significant turning point in his career, regardless of how things get settled at the ballot box.

Is Trump winning the immigration debate, yes or no?
