In the late hours of Saturday, the Jussie Smollett case was hit by another shocking twist.
Police in Illinois confirmed that they strongly believe that the two brothers Olabinjo and Abimbola Osundairo were paid by the Empire actor to stage the attack on him.
The authorities are now saying out loud what many had been whispering in their living rooms and on social media -- the hate crime committed by two of President Donald Trump's supporters never really occurred.
The 36-year-old singer and actor paid the Osundairo brothers to put a rope around his neck and pour an unknown substance on his face.
Earlier this week, the Osundairo duo was arrested and rapidly released without being charged.
According to a source close to the Chicago police department who spoke to Deadline, Mr. Smollett has put himself in some serious trouble.
The person said: “The new direction of the investigation is now based on the premise that Mr. Smollett was an active participant in the incident.”
An official statement from Chicago PD confirmed the rumors that Smollett is involved in the hoax that has captivated the world.
The statement revealed: “We can confirm that the information received from the individuals questioned by police earlier in the Empire case has, in fact, shifted the trajectory of the investigation. We’ve reached out to the Empire cast member’s attorney to request a follow-up interview.”
The lawyers Todd S. Pugh and Victor P. Henderson defending Smollett blasted the news that their client is involved in the fake attack.
Their statement read: “As a victim of a hate crime who has cooperated with the police investigation, Jussie Smollett is angered and devastated by recent reports that the perpetrators are individuals he is familiar with.”
Donald Trump Jr. has been salivating over the report that the hate crime was a setup.
Trump Jr. said in one tweet: "There was never any real attack. Jussie paid to be attacked and then made it look like Trump supporters did it."'
He said in another post: "This is how mentally insane the left has become. They will do anything to bring us down. Well, it’s not happening because Jussie is going to jail."
What should happen to the actor?
