It looks like U.S. President Donald Trump is not all too happy with the legacy of former Arizona Senator John McCain has left behind him after his passing.

According to Trump, McCain was mostly responsible for promoting certain rumors that alleged collusion between Trump’s campaign and Russia in the period before the former reality TV star became president.

The president tweeted: "Spreading the fake and totally discredited Dossier “is unfortunately a very dark stain against John McCain.” Ken Starr, Former Independent Counsel. He had far worse “stains” than this, including thumbs down on repeal and replace after years of campaigning to repeal and replace!"

He also added: "So it was indeed (just proven in court papers) “last in his class” (Annapolis) John McCain that sent the Fake Dossier to the FBI and Media hoping to have it printed BEFORE the Election. He & the Dems, working together, failed (as usual). Even the Fake News refused this garbage!"

Trump went on to point out other things McCain had done during his time that disappointed him even more.

He specifically pointed towards the Obamacare situation as an example of McCain’s behavior.

The situation between Trump, McCain, and the Russian connection allegations is nothing new under the sun, and Trump has been dealing with it for quite some time now.

However, many have pointed out that it is distasteful of Trump to make any negative references to McCain at this point, considering that the late Republican nominee for president has no chance of defending his position.

The daughter of the American icon, Meghan McCain, hit back with: "No one will ever love you the way they loved my father... I wish I had been given more Saturday’s with him. Maybe spend yours with your family instead of on twitter obsessing over mine?"

That does not seem to have affected Trump in any way though, as the president has continued to insist that McCain has “stains in his past,” and that the things he had brought to the light were not the end of it.

It is not clear if he was implying that he might make even more damning revelations regarding McCain, though some see this as a possibility.

So to others, this was seen as yet another nail in the coffin of Trump’s unpresidential behavior.

The leader of the free world has been seeing less and less support over the last few months, and it is wildly speculated at this point that he will not be reelected when 2020 rolls around.

Do you think Trump is wrong or right for attacking McCain?
