Ilhan Omar continues to have a controversial presence in American politics.

In her defense though, not all of those incidents have been related to her own actions.

Recently, officials from the Department of Homeland Security made controversial remarks regarding the politician, which quickly made the rounds and were widely commented by many.

The officials referred to Omar as a “Trojan horse” in public, and this statement seems to be blowing back up in their faces at this point.

The comment was made in the context of Omar’s entry into the US, which, according to the same officials, exploited a chaotic situation during a refugee crisis.

The post ended with a biting remark asking if that is what America should be represented by.

It is worth pointing out that the officials who made the comments are being scrutinized from two angles, their involvement with the ICE as well as their work for the DHS.

While the ICE does not seem to have any strict social media policies that the workers may have violated, it is a different story over at the DHS, which might punish the officials for their actions, according to recent reports.

Omar herself has been targeted for some of her own comments recently, though it does seem like the issues faced by the DHS employees are going to be much more severe at this point.

Many have started to question their statements and have asked for a more in-depth investigation into their conduct as government officials, and it does look like things might be moving in that direction.

Last week after a controversial House vote on bigotry, Omar and some of her colleagues put out the following statement: "We are tremendously proud to be part of a body that has put forth a condemnation of all forms of bigotry including anti-Semitism, racism, and white supremacy. At a time when extremism is on the rise, we must explicitly denounce religious intolerance of all kinds and acknowledge the pain felt by all communities. Our nation is having a difficult conversation and we believe this is great progress."

Do you agree or disagree with those trying to paint Omar as a "Trojan horse"?
