Minnesota Congresswoman Ilhan Omar does not seem to have positive feelings towards White house aide Stephen Miller, referring to him as a “white nationalist” on social media earlier this week.

This was apparently prompted by Miller’s attempts to persuade President Donald Trump to toughen up the country’s control on immigration.

Omar added that she found it outraging that Miller was still in a position of control on the political scene of the US.

She referred to past incidents involving Miller and stories that have been published about him by outlets before.

The liberal politician wrote: "Stephen Miller is a white nationalist. The fact that he still has influence on policy and political appointments is an outrage."

It is no secret that Miller is indeed very strongly against immigration, and he has been the central figure in various policies implemented by the current administration.

It is believed that Miller has a strong influence over President Trump, and he has been relying on that to exert additional control over the country’s policies on immigration.

It did not take long for critical statements to start pouring in, although not towards Miller -- instead, some were disappointed by Omar herself, and the fact that she decided to go in that direction with her comments.

Some have pointed out that comparisons to white nationalism are not a minor thing and should not be thrown around lightly.

Donald Trump Jr. replied to statement with: "I see that the head of the Farrakhan Fan Club, @IlhanMN, took a short break from spewing her usual anti-semitic bigotry today to accuse a Jewish man of being a ‘white nationalist’ because she apparently has no shame."

Others have been more defensive of Omar and have expressed support for her on social media.

Miller himself has not responded to the comments. Some have started to reference him directly in their tweets regarding the incident, but so far to no avail.

It is not known what Miller’s position on this is, although he is unlikely to be impressed.

Is Omar right or wrong for calling Miller a white nationalist?  Is this too far or fair in the political discourse?
