Despite having millions at their disposal, reports indicate that Emily Ratajkowski and her husband, Sebastian Bear-McClard, do not have any rent to pay, as they allegedly exploited a loophole in a law that allowed them to avoid paying over $100,000 to their landlord.

The incident came to light in a recent report that explained how the wealthy couple was able to manipulate the law to their advantage, “earning” themselves life without rent in their apartment unit.

The couple took advantage of a law that was initially aimed at low-income artists and other families who needed housing in an urgent manner.

However, due to inconsistencies in the way it was originally written, it allowed people in the couple’s wealthy situation also to take advantage of those benefits.

The lease of Ratajkowski’s partner had allegedly expired in 2017, after which he has not spent a single cent more on his rent, which was just under $5,000 a month, according to reports.

The landlord is currently trying to figure out how they can recoup their costs and get the couple off of their property, reports continue.

A spokesperson for an organization that represents landlords stated: "Here is a prime example, in prime NYC real estate, where an uber-wealthy celebrity couple and tenant can take advantage and exploit a law that was intended for truly struggling artists and low-income families in need of affordable housing."

One of the couple's neighbors also reacted to the story by stating: "It’s pathetic. The idea that one of these wealthy individuals is exploiting the system to save what, for him, is chump change, is a kick in the a– to the people who made Bleecker Street what it is."

The two have already accrued debt to the tune of $120,000 by refusing to pay their rent.

In light of the nearly $12-million net worth Bear-McClard is reported to have, the situation has been described as ridiculous by many.

Indeed, it does look like the people who need money the least are often the ones to exploit the system the most.

Hopefully, the situation will be resolved in a proper manner that will not leave the landlord with any long-term damages.
