Johan Vásquez to a signing of leaving Pumas to join Genoa in Italy

Although the Italian club had rejected the possibility, recently, the rumor took hold because the Sinaloan had already reached agreements with the University club.

The future of Johan Vásquez, Pumas's left-back, would be sealed. He would become the new player for the Genoa CFC club in Serie A in Italy. However, since the young 22-year-old player arrived in Mexico after his performance with the Mexican team in Tokyo 2020, he confirmed that he had offers to migrate to the old continent.

"It is a dream (to go to Europe). I'm not going to lie to you; there have been offers, talks between my representative and Pumas; I think these weeks are key. Let's wait", were his words as he approached the media and fans who were waiting for him at the Mexico City International Airport.

On Monday afternoon, there was a rumor about what would happen to the college footballer. But for the night of the same day, they talked about what the new house of the Pipe would be. Vásquez Ibarra would go to Italy and would be one signing away from fulfilling his dream of playing in Europe.

According to the columnist El Francotirador, he leaked the negotiations Johan is in and confirmed that the defender would leave for the old continent after his achievement in Tokyo 2020, even if he had already said goodbye to the Ciudad Universitaria team to start his new adventure.

"My PUUUUUUMAS! I tell you that JOHAN has just been DISMISSED by the team, and although everything has not yet been signed, we can take his signing with GENOA for granted. Tomorrow I will give myself hard and thick with the OPERATION details in the column in @franco_record", he wrote on his Twitter account.

As he specified, Johan Vásquez would already agree with his current team, with which he has a valid contract until 2023. Now it would be necessary to finalize the arrangements with his new team. In the next few days or hours, the Mexican would meet with representatives of the Italian team to see the details of his signing.

The option had previously been ruled out. The Genoa Series A communication director confirmed to ESPN  that they had no statement about a possible interest in the Aztec footballer.

But with the new turn in the negotiations by the University Club, the Olympic footballer would be close to fulfilling his dream of trying his luck in European football. If the talks are finalized, Johan will become one of the youngest footballers to leave at an early age to the other continent.

The most recent of them was José Juan Macías, who left his place in Jaime Lozano's Olympic team to focus on his new team, the Getafe Club de Fútbol of the Spanish First Division.

So far, Pumas has not commented on the player's situation, as he faces a bad start to the season. At the beginning of the  Grita México 2021 tournament, the Universidad club has not been able to achieve a victory. The changes in the squad and the losses that he currently has complicated his scenario.

Now with the possible loss of Johan, Andrés Lillini's plans could be modified. In Pumas, the native of Sonora found the opportunity to grow sportingly and economically. He arrived in 2020 with a value of  $ 1.10 million; ESPN recapped and quickly earned a spot in the ownership of the blue and gold team.

But with his participation in Tokyo 2020,  its value increased to USD 6.60 million, according to Transfermarkt, so there was a growth of USD 5.50 million in the price of the central defender in the last year and a half.
