New Space Force Logo Has Been Unveiled—And Draws To Mind Another Logo

After anxiously awaiting for the reveal of the new Space Force logo, we finally got a look, and to say it brings another logo to mind is an understatement.  President Trump made the official, long-awaited reveal of the logo, and Star Trek fans have been speaking up.

Upon viewing the logo, it is very apparent that Space Force and the film franchise's logo are more than a little similar.  For the past few years, Trump's administration has been hyping their newest addition to the US military.  The problem is, up until now, the similarities of Space Force to the film franchises of Star Trek and Space Balls have all been talk.

The unveiling of the logo was done by way of social media.  Trump proudly posted:  “After consultation with our great military leaders, designers, and others, I am pleased to present the new logo for the United States Space Force, the sixth branch of our magnificent military!”

Leaving out the logo’s resemblance to the official insignia of Air Force Space Command, which was already in service before Trump’s new Space Force, there is just no denying the spot-on resemblance to the Star Trek series design.  And, it would seem that fans of the series and movies are taking to social media to let Trump know he has crossed a line.

The real problem here exists in that the use of the delta symbol in the logo is what instantly calls the sci-fi franchise to mind.  The resemblance is so similar that the makers of the Star Trek franchise may actually have a leg to stand on in the suing of the United States government for its use.

President Trump reportedly chose the logo that was unveiled from several that had been presented to him for consideration, according to Space Force spokesman Major William Russell.  Space Force is an official new branch that offshoots from the Air Force and is connected to the US military with the same respect as the Marines and the Navy.

The Space Force branch was signed into law officially on December 20th, 2019.  It is listed as being part of the National Defense Authorization Act of 2020.  The Space Forces objective is: “to undertake missions and operations in the rapidly evolving space domain.”  Following the establishment of the current US Air Force back in 1947, The US Space Force boasts being the newest military branch in more than 70 years.

Do you think the insignia brings to mind the Star Trek franchise insignia?
