The Democrat-controlled House is still threatening to present articles of impeachment against currently sitting president Donald Trump.  And as a result, the Senate Republicans are promising to crush any such articles that may be presented.

Mitch McConnell, current Senate Majority Leader, is expected to shoot down any measure that may actually come to the floor before the proposal could even begin to gain traction.  The measure has remained nothing but a source of friction between the Democrats and Republicans for quite some time now.

Although McConnell would have no choice but to act, as he would powerless on the contrary, on the impeachment articles should they indeed to be presented, there would still remain the requirement of a two-thirds majority—approximately 67 votes—before the Senate could even move forward with a conviction of the President.

In a comment to The Hill, Senate Judiciary Committee chairman Lindsey Graham, stated: "I think it would be disposed of very quickly.  If it's based on the Mueller report or anything like that, it would be quickly disposed of."

Texas Senator John Comyn weighed in on the issue, telling The Hill that if the articles of impeachment were to be passed, that much like other Republican’s have offered, it would lead to “nothing.”  He went on to offer that “it would be defeated.  That’s why all they want to do is talk about it.”  Comyn suggested so far the Democrat’s seem to geared more towards talking about possibly impeaching Trump, rather than getting down actually doing it.  He feels this is because “they know what the outcome would be.”

Factoring in Comyn’s statements, with the Senate Republican’s saying an actual impeachment trial of Trump, and many believe that the trial would actually only receive the very minimum time possible on the floor.  Senator Thom Tills stated to The Hill: “Why on earth would we give a platform to something that I judge as a purely political exercise?”

He added that the only benefit of an extended trial would be that of rewarding what he indeed viewed as bad behavior on the part of the House.  On the flip side, Rashid Tlaib, Democrat from Michigan, stated Sunday that the House is indeed actively “moving towards” the current measure intended to impeach Trump.

All of the statements on impeachment of Trump in the left has come even though House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's repeatedly attempt to warn and quell any and all talks by Democrat's on the possibility of such measures proceeding.

So, what’s the verdict—you decide.

Will the Democrats heed the Republican’s warning of crushing any impeachment measure presented to them?
