Both giants of Europe would be negotiating the exchange of two figures for each side in an operation that could be beneficial for both parties.
Amid the international competitions that the national teams star in, the clubs continue to plan the following season in the middle of the transfer window. Barcelona is, so far, one of the teams that have been most active after closing three signings ( Sergio Agüero, Emerson Royal, and Eric García ) and leaving everything on track for a fourth ( Memphis Depay ).
However, the Barça team does not stop in its mission to renew the squad and create a competitive project to convince Lionel Messi to continue at the institution. That is why, from England, they assured that negotiation is being carried out that could shake the transfer market.
As detailed by the British media Sunday Times and later confirmed by Mundo Deportivo, there is the possibility that the entity culé and Manchester City carry out a "mega-barter" that includes the stars Ousmane Dembélé, Sergi Roberto, Joao Cancelo, and Bernardo Silva.
"The two Portuguese see it well to go to Barça in the framework of a barter between the Barça club and the City," detailed the Spanish newspaper about the information revealed by the English portal after contacting the environment of the citizen footballers. "It is a real option."
However, the operation could be complex on the side of the Spanish club, who will have to convince their players to leave the institution, taking into account that within six months they could freely negotiate with any other team, since both end their contract next June from 2022.
In addition to adding two significant reinforcements for both sides, the operation idea would also involve trying to frame the financial part. This sector was strongly affected after the arrival of the coronavirus.
The common factor that could facilitate the negotiations is Jorge Mendes, the Portuguese super-agent who represents both Cancelo and Silva and a good friend of Joan Laporta, president of FC Barcelona. In turn, another of the agents involved is Josep Maria Orobitg. He performs the same task with Sergi Roberto and Pep Guardiola.
The star exchange would benefit both teams. The 26- and 27-year-old Portuguese were undisputed starters in Manchester City's last campaigns. At the same time, the Spanish and French are also critical players in Barcelona. Although injuries and the coronavirus diminished the presence of Sergi Roberto, the midfielder is an old desire of Pep Guardiola as a result of his versatility on the field.
Meanwhile, the French striker managed to recover this season part of the talent that he demonstrated during his time at Borussia Dortmund. That took him to Camp Nou after the departure of Neymar in 2017.
