The July fireworks exhibition on Thursday hosted by the Republican National Committee in Washington, D.C., last summer caused $ 42,150 damage, according to records obtained by the Democratic Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington.

CREW released four pages of documents on Wednesday, including a letter from the Interior Ministry that sent an RNC in February describing the damage to the National Mall.

On the last night of 2020 the RNC ends with a fireworks display above the Washington Memorial

The records were obtained by CREW as part of a lawsuit “to reveal the full cost to taxpayers of Trump’s rampant use of Interior resources for self-aggrandizement,” the organization said on its website.CREW said it previously reported that employees for the National Park Service worked nearly 4,000 hours on the fireworks show, costing $177,000, which CREW said the RNC reimbursed as well. The fireworks show was pushed by then-President Donald Trump despite D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser canceling related events, such as the annual Fourth of July parade, because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

In 2019, Trump’s military-style July Fourth parade in D.C. drained a special city fund designed to help finance extra security and anti-terrorism measures during large events.

The RNC reimbursed the provincial government, according to documents submitted to the Department of Home Affairs and published by CREW.

The records obtained by CREW as part of a case "exposing full costs to taxpayers' excessive use of Trump's internal resources to make a name for themselves," the organization said on its website.

CREW said it had previously reported that National Park Service workers had worked for nearly 4,000 hours at a fireworks display, costing $ 177,000, which CREW said the RNC had also returned.
