Regarding the vaccination plan, 167,157,043 people over the age of 18 have already received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, half of the Americans of these ages.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention of the United States (CDC, for its acronym in English) have reported this Saturday almost 22,000 new coronavirus cases, which means that weekly coronavirus cases in the country have been reduced to half during May.

In the United States, coronavirus infections are at their lowest levels since June 2020, and deaths from the disease are on a downward trend, according to data collected by Johns Hopkins University and Bloomberg.

Regarding the status of the vaccination plan, 167,157,043 people over the age of 18 have already received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, which is half of the Americans of these ages. In total, 293,258,812 doses of the drug have been administered.

The United States accumulates a total of 33,249,494 cases and 594,268 since the start of the pandemic.

Meanwhile, the main cinema chains in the United States announced this Friday that they would not require a mask to be worn by those spectators who are already vaccinated against the coronavirus.

AMC, the largest chain of cinemas in the US, said that this decision is in line with the relaxation of measures against the pandemic formulated by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

He clarified that fully vaccinated spectators would no longer be required to wear masks in AMC theaters unless state or local regulations are required.

AMC also explained that those who are not vaccinated should wear a mask when they go to see a movie.

The US has already applied 293,705,050 vaccines. The spectacular figure means that 40.5% of the population is fully vaccinated, and if they are over 65 years of age, 85.8% have already received one dose and 75% two. In addition, in almost every state in the country, tourists are invited to get vaccinated for free. Is that maximizing the number of vaccinated in the coming months is essential for the United States to restore a principle of normalcy around the July 4 holiday?

Regal and Cinemark, respectively the second and the third largest cinema chain in the US, announced similar measures to AMC.

After a fateful 2020 for cinemas due to the pandemic, the exhibition sector hopes to overcome the situation in 2021, which, thanks to vaccines, has brought the country closer to a situation that is increasingly similar to normality before the coronavirus.

Hollywood studios also hope to cash this year and release the many blockbusters whose release on the big screen was delayed until the pandemic was under control.
