Video Of Girl Licking Ice Cream Container Goes Viral—Should Charges Be Handed Down?

The individual who was seen in a viral internet video licking the inside of an ice cream container, and then placing it back on the shelf in a Walmart store in Texas, has been identified according to a statement made by the Lufkin Police Department.

The spokeswoman for the Lufkin Police Department, Jessica Pebsworth, told Yahoo Lifestyle that the individual in question is actually a San Antonio, Texas juvenile.  However, law enforcement has not chosen to release the individual's identity as of yet.  The case is expected to be turned over to the Texas Juvenile Justice Department.

Through surveillance footage inside the Lufkin, Texas Walmart store, where the incident occurred, law enforcement was not only able to identify the individual in the video but was also able to identify the man who could be heard off-camera egging her on to commit the act.

The case against the man heard in the video is still currently under investigation, as his identity has not been released, according to Pebsworth.  On Wednesday, law enforcement officials released an image on their Facebook page.  It shows the two suspects as they are entering the Walmart location.

Spokeswoman Jenny Van Dorf, of Blue Bell Creameries, the maker of the ice cream that the individual licked, stated that she believes that the container that the individual in the video is seen tampering with was in fact recovered.  Erring on the side of caution, Blue Bell chose to remove all containers of the Tin Roof flavor ice cream from the Lufkin Walmart location.

The original video of the incident was posted online on Twitter on Saturday, and people were horrified at the scene.  The Twitter user who posted the video call the action out as "psychotic behavior."  In the video, an individual can clearly be heard, a man, egging the young woman in the video to lick the top of the ice cream and then told her to put it back into the freezer.

Not only were the viewers of the Twitter video alarmed, but they also made sure to alert Blue Bell Creameries of the incident.  The ice cream retailer responded, assuring the individuals that they "take this issue very seriously."  Blue Bell Creameries spokesman went on to ensure consumers that they are working with law enforcement, their retail partner, and all social media platforms, in an effort to get to the bottom of exactly what happened.

The spokesman also made sure to remind consumers that the ice cream containers they sell are protected by an inner seal, which if tampered with would be very evident.

So, what’s the verdict—you decide.

Should the individuals involved in the incident both be brought to justice for their actions?
