A scandal involving Taco Bell recently took social media by storm, after a couple reported that they had been assaulted by employees of the fast-food chain in Philadelphia.
The incident transpired after the couple complained that they had already waited for over 45 minutes for their order, which was supposed to be a simple one.
Employees responded by explaining that they had too many online orders and that was preventing them from working any faster on their local ones.
At some point, following further criticisms, some of the employees reportedly jumped over the store’s counter and went after the couple outside, where they continued to attack them.
The employees reportedly took the couple down to the ground and started beating on them.
To add insult to injury, the only thing Taco Bell had to offer as compensation for the incident was a $20 gift card.
This is despite the fact that a video of the incident has gone viral and has drawn large-scale criticism towards the company.
Later on, a representative for Taco Bell went on to say that the employees involved have been fired from their positions.
However, he did not clarify how many of those seen in the video are facing any repercussions, and whether the company plans to take any further action against its former workers.
The fact that the chain has been reluctant to release the names of the people involved drew further criticism towards them, with many claiming that Taco Bell is trying to sweep the incident under the rug.
38-year-old Brian Reese, one half of the couple, explained: "I backed out of the store. They continued to follow me. They put me on the ground, and I don’t really remember too much else. Except for when I got up, my girlfriend was on the ground being beat, too. She wasn’t even in the store at the time."
Joe Boback, one of Reese’s friends, who was at the restaurant and filmed the whole thing also stated: "It was such a blur because it was so traumatic to see my two friends get beat up for no reason. It was complete chaos.”
Do you agree or disagree that Taco Bell handled the incident poorly?
