President Joe Biden was tested for measles after meeting a White House employee last week for a Covid-19 test on Monday, White House press secretary Jen Psaki said in a statement.

The crew "spent about 30 minutes near" Biden boarding Air Force One during a flight from South Carolina to Pennsylvania on Friday, Psaki said, adding that the assistant did not have regular contact with Biden.

"This employee is fully vaccinated and empowered, and is found to be unfit before boarding Air Force One, as required by everyone accompanying the President," he said. "The worker did not have any symptoms until Sunday, and was tested on Monday."

Since receiving the test from his assistant, Biden has undergone a PCR test that he did not have, the White House said.

"The President is regularly tested. As part of that routine testing, the President received an antigen test on Sunday, and was found to be free of it," Psaki said. "This morning, after being informed of the employee evaluation, the President received a PCR test and was found to be unwell. He will be re-examined on Wednesday."

Trump reveals he got a Covid booster shot; the crowd is harassing him

Biden, who turned 79 last month, is in the Covid age group, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. People over the age of 65 account for more than 81 percent of Covid deaths.

Former President Donald Trump, 75, was diagnosed with Covid in October 2020, before vaccinations were obtained.

Psaki on Monday quoted a directive from the CDC in which he said Biden did not need to be in solitary confinement because he was fully vaccinated. Biden is scheduled to deliver a speech on Tuesday afternoon on management plans to combat the epidemic this winter.

The omicron variant has surpassed the delta variation as the strongest type of coronavirus in the U.S. when new cases are weighed. As of Friday, more than 73 percent of new cases in the country were caused by omicron variants, according to CDC data released Monday.

Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., And Cory Booker, D-N.J., Said over the weekend they had been tested for HIV in successful cases. Both senators claim to be vaccinated and have booster shots.
